Recently a bill has been passed by the central government of India for the purpose of management of provisions and regulations against the online gambling and casino sites, seeing the immense interest of youth and people who love gambling and casino games.
The bill has been passed on August 20 and the major highlights of the bill for online gambling and casino games are mentioned herein below:-
- This bill has banned all the online gambling and casino games in India and made it clear that whether the game offered is game of skill or game of chance shall be prohibited if it falls under the category of gambling and casino games.
- No advertisement and promotion of online gambling and casino games shall be permitted.
- If any online gambling and casino games are offered then strict penalties and imprisonment shall be prescribed to the person thereto.
- No facilitation of money or illegal mode of payment shall be permitted for gambling or casino games on the online platform, if the same shall be found then the person has to serve imprisonment for up to three years or more.
The bill has been passed for stopping the money facilitates and other crimes happening through online gambling and casino games and also done for the mental health of the players and for stopping other alleged crimes associated with the gambling and casino games.
